Mt. Ashland offers a 10-Week Progressive Ski School program designed to accelerate learning for young skiers and snowboarders aged 5-13. Each Saturday in January, February, and the first two weeks in March, students will have the same Mt. Ashland instructor and will focus on improving their skills, learning the terrain, having fun, and making new friends.
This program costs $399 per child. Lift tickets and/or equipment is not included. Space is limited – to reserve a spot, apply online or download and return the registration form and payment by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org or in person through Guest Services at the Mt. Ashland lodge.
Program is on Saturdays from 10am to noon, a one-hour unsupervised lunch, then 1 to 3pm.
UPDATE: The 2017 Program Begins on Saturday, January 14th.
Please note that the registration process is not complete until the registration/liability form is returned to Mt. Ashland.

So that we may best assemble groups, you will be asked to select your child’s current ability level. Eventually, groups will be organized to emphasize participant’s skill mastery and personal development:
Level 1 – New to Skiing.
Level 2 – Straight gliding, gliding wedge, able to stop, intro to Wedge turn.
Level 3 – Independently and without any assistance, stopping, turning and linking wedge turns on lift access terrain.
Level 4 – Wedge-Christie turns with progressively earlier matching
Level 5 – Skis are almost parallel, with a small wedge entry. Can ski most of runs at Mt. Ashland
Black Diamond Club –Parallel turns in all snow conditions and on all slopes.
Level 1 – New to Snowboarding.
Level 2 – Able to use lifts and ride easy Green Terrain.
Level 3 – Able to link turns on Green Terrain.
Level 4 – Comfortable riding Blue Terrain.
Black Diamond Club – Dynamic turns on all terrain in all snow conditions.
Drop Off/Pickup Time and Location
Lessons begin promptly at 10am in the Learning Center, outside the Mt. Ashland Lodge. Students have a one hour, unsupervised lunch from noon to 1pm. Pick up time is 3pm in the Learning Center. If your child has other arrangements for going home, please communicate that to his or her coach. Each child must be signed out with their coach every week at 3pm.
What Does My Child Need to Bring?
Please have your child prepared with:
- Lift ticket or Season Pass. (Students who are 6 and under ski free, parents still need to pick-up a “Child’s Ticket” at a ticket window)
- Rental or own equipment – labeled with your child’s name (duct tape works well)
- Weatherproof jacket and pants
- Helmet, gloves and under-layers
- Goggles or sunglasses
- Sunscreen and lip balm
Mt. Ashland strives to be an industry leader in mountain safety. To further this goal we strongly encourage students 17 and under in any ski or snowboard lesson program to wear ski and snowboard specific helmets during lessons. For your convenience, Mt. Ashland offers helmets for rent or sale.
