Fourth graders who hold their free Every Kid in a Park pass will have the opportunity to participate in a free BioBlitz event on Mt. Ashland from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., an event hosted by the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, the Medford District Bureau of Land Management, Mt. Ashland, Oregon Caves National Monument, REI Medford, and the Siskiyou Mountain Club.

The brainchild of National Geographic, BioBlitz events focus on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. BioBlitz events bring scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a place. For more, visit http://education.nationalgeographic.org/projects/bioblitz/.

The Every Kid in a Park pass is free for every fourth grader in the Nation as part of an initiative aimed at getting kids outdoors to learn and play on their public lands, and can be obtained by going to www.everykidinapark.gov and completing a fun, simple activity!
