SLOPE CARE – 9am – 2pm
Mt. Ashland is partnering with the Rogue Native Plant Partnership , Silver Springs Nursery, and the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest to help improve our Sonnet ski slope. This slope was re-contoured a few years ago with local fill and the native plants have had a challenging time regenerating in this area. We want to do all we can to help our native plants and grasses flourish.
The Partnership has about 4,500 plugs that will be ready to plant. They are a mix of native grasses and wildflowers from seed their staff member Kathryn Prive collected nearby last summer. Depending on the soil conditions, they typically use a wooden dowel to make a hole and then the plug just pops right in. If the planting goes smoothly each person can plant quite a few plants (~100) per hour so having a group of 15-20 folk for 3-4 hours seems reasonable.
We would love to have as much help as we can get as we make this great improvement at Mt. Ashland.
