Summer Projects Update – September 5, 2024
Summer operations have come to a close, and with it all of our projects are really ramping up!
Here’s a quick update on where we are, with just 100 days until are target opening date this winter:
Lithia Chairlift Construction
More components continue to arrive, and the SkyTrac crew is on-site and working hard on the foundations for this new chair. The foundation for the base terminal was started on September 3 and things should start to move quickly over the next few weeks. Right now we’re expecting to do load testing in mid-December and to open this chair to the public in January. Follow along on our social channels for more photo and video updates!
Aisle 2 Widening
The Aisle 2 widening is continuing on schedule and we expect to be completed by the end of September. The early work of this project has focused on correctly surveying the worksite and laying out the site. Over the next weeks our contractor will be building up the surface to double the width of the trail from the bottom of Dan’s Slot down into the base area.
Night Lighting Upgrades
We are replacing all of our existing night lights with brand new LED fixtures. These will be much more energy efficient and provide a better lighted experience. This is the first of 3 phases with night lighting, and we plan soon to add lights to Windsor Chairline and Bottom, as well as everything on the Lithia Chair pod. Replacement of the existing lights began on September 4 on Sonnet and will continue around the mountain over the next few months. Elevating our Twilight experience is getting us stoked for winter! Check out our season pass page for info on how to purchase a 24/25 season Twilight Pass.
The USFS is still reviewing this project and we don’t have approval to move forward yet. The much longer length of the tow and increased steepness are presenting some challenges with the equipment we currently have so we are looking at potential options in terms of design or change of equipment. In the next month we’ll resolve the engineering details and work with the Forest Service on the reviews that they need to do to give us a thumbs up.
