Private Lesson FAQs

What is the youngest age you can take in your lessons?

Our lessons are available for children 4 and above. However, we do ask that your child is potty trained if you plan on signing them up for ski school.

Can I ride with my child during their lesson?

We strongly recommend that parents/guardians observe from a distance or have fun elsewhere on the mountain to avoid disrupting class. Parents or guardians will not be permitted to join the class without prior approval from Ski School management.

Where & when is check-in for private lessons?

If you need to rent from us, we recommend arriving at the ticket desk in the main lodge to check in 60-90 minutes prior to your lesson start time.

If you already have your own equipment, 30 minutes should suffice.

Lessons meet outside in the learning center next to the beginner Sonnet chairlift. Please allow time for winter driving conditions,

Are tickets/rentals included in a private lesson?

Tickets & rentals are not included in the cost of a private lesson. You may, however, reserve your tickets and rentals online in advance.

Tickets are required for all riders. For first time riders & beginners we recommend the $10-$15 Sonnet beginner pass, which includes access to the Magic Carpet & Sonnet beginner lift.

What should I bring to my private lesson?

Weather conditions will vary throughout the day, and remember that you will be spending the day outside! We recommend dressing in moisture-wicking layers & waterproof outerwear, bringing goggles or sunglasses, and bringing sunscreen. A refillable water bottle and snacks are also highly encouraged.

Can skiers & snowboarders be in the same lesson?

Because they are two different sports skiers and snowboarders will not be able to share an instructor nor be in the same class. However, they may be in the same learning areas in general proximity.

What will the weather be like?

For weather information during the next 7 days, please check the Mt. Ashland Weather page or the National Weather Service Webpage. You are welcome to use either forecast.
