Cafe Crew – Cook

Reporting Level: Food Service Manager

Job Qualifications: Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit, Fast-paced kitchen, cash handling, and Guest service experience required. A valid OLCC Servers Card is preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform job in compliance with the Department of Health, OSHA, and Mt. Ashland policies, procedures and requirements; and performs duties related to Guest services.
  • All aspects of food preparation, including prep and line cooking, preparing food orders in a correct and timely manner; cleaning and maintain food storage areas and service areas, washing dishes, and proper utilization and rotation of supplies.
  • Stock and maintain products; food and supplies in the front of the house; self-service machines and areas, including ice, soft drinks, lids, straws, condiments, coffee, etc. Keep front of the house clean, clutter free and presentable to Guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of assigned facilities throughout each shift.   • Perform in compliance with Mt. Ashland policies and procedures as outlined in Mt Ashland’s Employee Handbook and Lift Department Handbook.
  • Prepare lift(s) for opening and/or closing, including setting up and maintaining ramps, signs, mazes and posts, ropes, benches, and lift shacks.

  • Provide safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of passengers.

Lodge Crew (Cleaning and Light Maintenance)

Reporting Level: Food Service Manager

 Job Qualifications:  Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handler’s High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Food and beverage and guest service experience preferred.

  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of assigned facilities throughout each shift. Tasks include but are not limited to: trash collection, bussing and wiping tables, chairs and other areas occupied by guests; cleaning and stocking restrooms; taking out trash and recycling; upkeep cardboard, trash, and recycling areas.
  • Assist with opening and closing of the lodge building.
  • Assist with transportation of freight and other items to the lodge or ski area.

Parking Lot Attendant

Reporting Level:  Director of Mountain Operations

Job Qualifications: MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE; High School Diploma or equivalent, and guest service experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform in compliance with Mt. Ashland policies and procedures, and performs duties related to Guest services.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and other Mt. Ashland departments, employees, supervisors, and managers. Including informing supervisors, managers and ski patrol of potential hazards or problems.
  • Coordination of parking lot set-up, services, and maintenance
  • Assists guest with missing property

Rental Technician

Reporting Level:  Rental Shop Supervisor

Job Qualifications:   Strong written and verbal communication skills; Attention to detail; Previous experience as a ski or repair technician preferred; High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Outfits guests with rental equipment, including boots, skis, snowboards, poles and helmets
  • Sets ski and snowboard bindings; instructs guests on proper use of equipment; documents all pertinent settings and information
  • Checks equipment out/in, including inventory control and documentation
  • Performs a full range of ski and snowboard equipment services including hand and machine waxing, tuning and repairs
  • May be responsible for testing and documentation of rental fleet and guest equipment
  • Maintains condition of rental fleet throughout the season
  • Takes payment and operates a cash register
  • Works as a rental technician as directed by Rental Supervisor

Job Qualifications:  Must be able to pass a background check; be confident at skiing or snowboarding with the ability to instruct; guest service experience is preferred.

  • Ability to set up and take down the Learning Center. 
  • Teach group or private lessons, sometimes with ability level splits. 
  • Assist in the rental shop if needed.

  • Document lesson attendance and other information as instructed by the department supervisor and manager.
  • Competent and enjoys working with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Actively use Flaik, our Snowsports management software.

Job Qualifications: MUST BE 18 YEARS or older; Ability to work safely on slope during nonoperational months with various hand tools, power tools, chain saws, brushing saws, and fire
mitigation tools. Ability to communicate in English.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform in compliance with Mt. Ashland policies and procedures as outlined in Mt Ashland’s Employee Handbook.
  • Safely use power tools and hand tools associated with job and properly use VHF radios.
  • Operate a Brushing Saw.

Snow Reporter

Position Description
Position Title: Snow Reporter & Content Contributor
Department: Marketing
Reports To: Marketing Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Classification: Super-Seasonal, Part-Time

Position Summary
The Snow Reporter & Content Contributor is responsible for gathering and distributing
accurate and timely information related to snow conditions, weather, and mountain
operations. This position supports the Marketing Department by preparing daily reports
and updates for the website, social media platforms, snow phone, and regional media
partners. The position also assists with content collection and light editing for use in
marketing materials, social media, and internal communications. This position also
provides support to mountain events and activities.
This role requires early-morning reliability, strong attention to detail, and a commitment
to representing Mt. Ashland in a clear, professional, and engaging manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Collect, document, and report daily snow, weather, grooming, and operational
information by 7:00 AM. This typically requires starting work at the ski area by 6:00
AM each day.
● Edit and post daily General Manager report video to social media platforms.
● Post condition updates to the website, snow phone, social media platforms, and
partner networks (e.g., OpenSnow, OnTheSnow, SnoCountry).
● Coordinate with Ski Patrol, Lift Operations, and Mountain Operations for current
terrain and lift status.
● Monitor changing conditions and post midday updates when required (e.g., storm
days, lift delays).
● Capture photos and short videos daily to illustrate conditions and support brand
visibility.
● Maintain the tone and voice of Mt. Ashland’s public messaging across all channels.
● Respond to guest inquiries or comments on social media during morning shifts, as
assigned.
● Assist with blog-style write-ups, weather summaries, or community-focused stories
as needed.
● Ensure compliance with brand guidelines, safety messaging, and ADA accessibility
best practices for digital content.

● Provide on-mountain support to the Recreation & Events department, for successful
execution of ski area events and activities.

 

Qualifications Required:
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Demonstrated ability to meet strict early-morning deadlines.
● Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
● Ability to ski or snowboard in variable snow and weather conditions.
● Familiarity with mountain weather terminology and snow reporting standards.
● Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X,
YouTube, Tiktok).
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
Preferred:
● Experience in photography, videography, or content creation for outdoor recreation.
● Familiarity with basic web content management systems and digital image editing.
● Background in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position operates in a mountain environment with variable weather conditions
including cold temperatures, snow, wind, and reduced visibility. Work is performed both
outdoors and indoors. Use of skis or snowboard is required to access mountain terrain.
– Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
– Must be able to navigate snowy terrain safely.
– Ability to stand, walk, ski, or ride for extended periods.
– Early-morning shifts begin by 6:00 AM.
– Reliable transportation to Mt. Ashland is required. (Four-wheel drive or snow tires may
be necessary.)

Hours and Compensation
This is a seasonal, part-time position during the winter operating season.
– Typical schedule is 4–6 mornings per week, including weekends and holidays.
– Hourly pay range: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
– Eligible for employee season pass and industry reciprocal benefits per policy.

Trail Crew (Ski Patrol)

Job Qualifications: MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE; Guest service experience preferred. Ability to work outdoors for long periods in storm and winter weather conditions; Have strong advanced skiing skills; Able to safely use power tools associated with job and properly use VHF radios.

  • Enforcement of rules and policies.
  • Setting and maintaining closures, boundaries, padding, and signs.

Terrain Park Attendant

 Reporting Level: Terrain Park Supervisor

Job Qualifications: MUST BE 18 YEARS or older; should have advanced skiing/snowboarding skills; experience with terrain park features, a high school degree or equivalent and guest service experience preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform in compliance with Mt. Ashland policies and procedures as outlined in Mt Ashland’s Employee Handbook and Terrain Park Department Handbook.
  • Construct and maintain Terrain Park features.
  • Assist with the design and placement of Terrain Park features.
  • Assist with special events as directed by Terrain Park Supervisor or Director of Mountain Operations.
  • Provide safety information for the Terrain Park; ensure guest and employee safety, follow and enforce the Skier’s Responsibility Code along with all Park rules.
  • Set and maintain Terrain Park signage, closures, and boundaries in compliance with mountain safety policies and as directed by the Terrain Park Supervisor.
  • Complete daily Terrain Park operation logs.
  • Provide daily updates to Terrain Park Supervisor regarding park conditions, features available, and open/closed status.
  • Document and assist with investigation of Terrain Park incidents.

Terrain Park Supervisor

Job Qualifications:

  • MUST BE 18 YEARS or older.
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of terrain park features, construction, and risk management.
  • Prior experience in terrain park operations and/or snowcat operation strongly preferred.
  • High school degree or equivalent required; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Guest service experience and strong communication skills.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform in compliance with Mt. Ashland policies and procedures as outlined in Mt Ashland’s Employee Handbook and Terrain Park Department Handbook.
  • Design, construct, and maintain Terrain Park features in alignment with industry standards.
  • Supervise terrain park crew, scheduling, and training staff.
  • Oversee signage, closures, and boundaries to ensure guest and employee safety; enforce the Skier’s Responsibility Code and all Park rules.
  • Coordinate with grooming and ski patrol to ensure safe and consistent park operations.
  • Maintain daily logs and provide regular updates to the Director of Mountain Operations regarding park conditions, features, and status.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events and competitions.
  • Document and assist with investigation of Terrain Park incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with Guests and other Mt. Ashland departments and employees.
  • Identify and report potential hazards or problems to Mountain Operations leadership.
  • Perform all duties with a focus on guest service, safety, and park progression.

Tickets/Retail Cashier

Reporting Level: Ticket and Retail Manager

Job Qualifications: Preferred applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent as well as 2+ years cash-handing and guest service experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Connect customers with information they need to maximize the value and experience they have at Mt. Ashland.
  • Positively represent Mt. Ashland by being friendly and helpful
  • Sell lift tickets, season passes, lessons, retail goods and rentals; help guests understand the various options and values to select the right products
  • Respond to customer questions, concerns, comments and complaints; resolve if possible; refer to supervisor or other staff member/department as indicated
  • Assist in the coordination of lost and found items.
  • Be familiar with all of Mt. Ashland’s products, services and specials.
  • Perform basic data entry
  • Complete other departmental work such as stocking cleaning, assisting with rental gear, documentation controls, etc.
  • Maintaining expected inventory controls
  • Communicate effectively with guests and other Mt. Ashland departments, employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Must keep accurate daily records as required by the manager, including daily log of tickets, reconciliation of cash drawers and responsible ownership of issued money.

  • Perform all major essential job functions
  • Complies with and enforces all of Mt. Ashland policies and procedures.
  • Report directly to the Tickets and Retail Manager

 

Physical Requirements:  Ability to sit or stand 6-8 hours as needed. Bend at the waist, twist upper body, kneel crawl, climb, and reach above shoulder(s). Repetitive use of hands. Lift and carry 20-50lbs., push 10-20lbs. as needed.
