A QUICK ABOUT US

Mt. Ashland Ski Area is committed to providing an outstanding alpine recreation experience for people of all ages and skill levels. As an asset to our community, we remain true to our core values: we are a local mountain with great snow, exciting terrain, providing access to a diverse alpine environment and a fun family atmosphere. We are dedicated to introducing mountain sports to first-timers and beginners and growing our skiing, riding, and summer communities.

From atop the Siskiyou Crest, Mt. Ashland provides terrain for skiers and riders of every ability. Founded in 1964 and operated by a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Mt. Ashland is Southern Oregon’s hub for outdoor recreation. With a peak elevation of 7,533′ and over 200 acres of skiable terrain, find your happy place amongst our steeper terrain in The Bowl, one of dozens of groomed runs, in one of our tree glades or at the Learning Center.

WHAT TO WEAR

When it’s your first time on the Mountain it can be a challenge and feel daunting figuring out what to wear. From Base layers to Goggles, we are making it easier for you to navigate what’s needed upon arrival and on Mountain so you can show up more prepared than ever and not have to stress about leaving an essential item behind!

STEPPING OUT OF THE CAR

If your skiing or snowboarding on any Mountain, it’s likely that you will start your day with stepping out of your vehicle straight into the snow. Make sure you are checking our Mountain Report, Weather and Webcams upon arrival so you know what to expect from the weather, but it doesn’t hurt to come prepared with layers! And while appropriate attire is essential, nothing completes a Mountain outfit like some Sunscreen. Even on overcast days, sunscreen is a crucial part of your Mountain adventure and should be worn even on your walk from the car.

HITTING THE SLOPES

Once the lift tickets are purchased, your rentals are acquired from the Olsrud Mountain Sports Center,  you’re ready to hit the slopes and it’s time to equip yourself with the on Mountain attire essentials. That includes getting on your boots, making sure you have your lift ticket attached to you in a place where ticket checkers can visibly see them (we recommend attached to a front zipper on your jacket) and getting that helmet strapped on. Don’t forget the sunscreen! And remember, even if it’s a little warmer outside, if it’s your first time skiing or riding, your gloves and jacket will protect you from not just the elements, but from getting wet if you happen to take a tumble, By the waytumbles are a right of passage and apart of the journey in becoming a Mountain Adventurer so don’t let that scare you!
