Update on Mt. Ashland’s Shuttle Service

After many years of operating our own guest shuttle, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue the Mt. Ashland–operated service.

This is not a new conversation for us. Over the years, we’ve launched, paused, and reworked the shuttle several times, always with the hope that it could become a sustainable piece of our operation. Unfortunately, despite every effort, the program has continued to operate at a substantial financial loss — one that a small nonprofit ski area simply can’t absorb without affecting the health of our core operations.

At the same time, the liability exposure and regulatory requirements around operating passenger transportation have grown significantly. Managing those risks responsibly requires resources and expertise that fall well outside the heart of what Mt. Ashland exists to do.

If a local transportation company or organization decides to operate a shuttle in the future, we’d be glad to help connect guests to that option and support their efforts however we can.

Our existing bus will continue to be used for employee transportation, which helps reduce parking congestion and ensures our staff can get to and from the mountain efficiently.

We know this change will disappoint some guests who’ve relied on the shuttle over the years — and that’s completely fair. We’ve shared that same frustration as we’ve worked to make the service viable time and again. But at the end of the day, our responsibility is to keep Mt. Ashland financially strong and focused on what we do best: providing a welcoming, community-based mountain experience that will endure for generations.

Thank you for your understanding, your feedback, and your continued support of this little mountain with big spirit.
