About Mt. Ashland

Mt. Ashland is a community-focused ski area that is owned and operated by the non-profit Mt. Ashland Association.

Mt. Ashland is dedicated to providing an outstanding alpine recreation experience for people of all ages and skill levels.

Campaign Goal

Re-invest in Mt. Ashland to help ensure the ski area will be able to operate safely and efficiently throughout each year – providing Local Mountain Fun for many years to come.

Why Mt. Ashland?

We have such an asset in our own backyard: Mt. Ashland.  For over 50 years, this nonprofit mountain recreation area, conveniently located a short drive from anywhere in the Rogue Valley, has been a “crown jewel” of our area.

Each year, more than 50,000 visitors head up to the mountain, where an abundance of year-round outdoor and educational opportunities await.

Mt. Ashland helps our economy.  As one of the most affordable and accessible mountain recreation areas in the country, Mt. Ashland helps draw businesses and individuals seeking a place with easy access to outdoor and educational opportunities.

Mt. Ashland provides jobs. Each winter, more than 130 people work at the ski area, providing income to supplement their other seasonal employment in the Rogue Valley. This enables many raft guides, fire fighters, and others to work year-round.

Outdoor recreation is an important part of our community’s health.  The percentage of overweight kids and adults in Jackson and Josephine County has steadily increased since at least 2007.  Incorporating activity & healthy habits into our daily lives is critical – especially in winter.

Mt. Ashland gives back.  Countless nonprofit organizations, students, and other community groups are able to experience the mountain each year through generous charitable contributions and discount programs.

Mt. Ashland creates new skiers. At a time when the average ski area lift ticket in the U.S. has risen to more than $100, our My Turn Program offers a very affordable opportunity to try out skiing or snowboarding for the first time. For only $124, a first-time learner of snow sports can receive three days of lift tickets, equipment rentals, and lessons.  Anyone in our community can try out a great sport without making a huge investment right away. Graduates of the My Turn program are also eligible for discounts on future visits to Mt. Ashland. It’s all part of our mission to offer winter sports to everyone.

The organization will spend the next five years heavily investing in lodge improvements, new grooming machines, lift improvements, and other prudent investments to ensure reliable operations for many years to come.
